That's a tough call, but I would say probably less.
PbP-wise, I've trimmed down the games I'm running to just a handful and I kind of like it that way. (It take a fair bit more effort to -run- a PbP than it does to play in one.)
Cons -- I might cut Tacticon, but two things occur to me: first, even though the energy level was low and it felt like there were about 100 people attending, it was easy to get in games and there were still *great* games on offer. Second, if I cut that, we might do that cabin thing, so...
I plan on doing Gamehole every year I can while the BS Landia regulars go. But I could be convinced to make an annual pilgrimage elsewhere if a big crew wanted to get a box at Gen Con or hit Garycon or North Texas... (The games at Gamehole are good, but it's the people that are the draw for me.)
I hope to maintain two biweekly groups. Once Gabe's Dune game ends, I'll be on the hunt for something else to play in addition to our Thursday night game.
I'd say that sounds like a damn successful year, gaming wise! Glad to have shared some of those experiences. Happy New Year, here's to more great gaming moments in 2025!
Even though I appreciate them greatly, I am terrible at handling compliments, so I'm doing an "ackshually" -- we played Plant-based Paranoia, not Bloom, which was another excellent option. It's been a while since I've run Mothership, our session reminded me why I love it so much.
P.S.: Oink games are awesome. Insider and Fake Artist are two we play real often.
Gah -- right you are! I'll make the correction in the post. I bet it's not the only error or oversight up there!
And I don't care if you're good at handling compliments or not. Suck it up! Take the compliment! ;)
(That was a *great* session, thanks for running it. It was a clear example of different styles working, too -- I would have run parts of that quite differently, but certainly not *better*. It was aces, man.)
Recently joined a TOR game on GP being run by Mephistophilis. It's an out of the box adventure with pregen PCs concerning the a map belonging to Bilbo Baggins. He hires some relatives to snatch it back. Was that the one you were referring to?
Haven't had a chance to read the directions for the game, but the stuff on the character sheet seems challenging.
Loved reading along to that Mothership game you ran on GP. That was some serious grade A RP right there.
If my daughter was a GM, she'd love those giraffe golems.
Perhaps you'll dig it more than I did. We struggled with a couple of dead-ends where the book said a certain skill test *had* to be passed for the group to progress. That kind of mickey-mouse stuff. Easy to fix, but not *that* easy when everyone is learning the system. Also, playing a bunch of hobbits just wasn't my thing. I want to fight orcs and goblins and run for Nazgul and trolls... not barn owls. (You're probably in good hands, though -- Meph is awesome.)
Didn't know anyone actually read along with that Mothership game -- and your daughter has good taste!
Meph offered to run it so a bunch of us can learn the system before sinking out teeth into something meatier. I'd rather learn this way than get invested in a character only to have him slain by an orc right off the bat because I could've done X when Y would've been the better choice had I known the rules better.
Players are C1NDER, Honor_Over_All, Frandal, Knell (new guy), and me.
C1NDER should be able to offer some guidance and insight -- they ran the box set adventure for the group I was in. Push through! There's a good game beyond.
A fun-filled 2024 for sure. Do you think you'll do the same, more, or less in 2025?

One-Shot wise... who the hell knows?
You are an animal, man. So much gaming. Keep it up!
I'll try! No promises!

And to you, and agreed! More of the same in '25!

That is one and the same adventure. =]
