"Wow. That table for Into the Odd. Can't really beat THAT group."
Reads the S&W table "ohhh, apparently you can..."
Agreed, huge props to Hobbs. We camped out there Friday night and played Rappan Athuk C&C in the booth for a few hours, offering a seat at the table to passers by.
Another stellar post, man. Those were some great off books games! I am lucky to have been in a few of them. I come from a long, long way to attend GHC and I don't regret it one bit. It sounds like it is time to lean on Hobbs for We Deal in Lead. Next up BSer Con 4!
Awesome write-up! Makes me want to go right back to GHC with you and the rest of the crew for even more gaming goodness!
Into the Odd was great! The weird-industrial setting originally didn't call my name, so I don't own the book. But there's a lot to like about the game. Loved the character creation, the lightweight rules, etc. I think I'll have to pick it up after all. Would definitely play again. (The random encounter with the bowler-hat wearing bandits was my favorite part!)
Can't believe someone struggled with your "theater of the mind" scene descriptions, though. That's just ridiculous... 😳😅
Thanks for the high praise about the Outgunned game. It was definitely the players that made it, though! Love how you all leaned into the premise and tropes. In the end, I think we only got to play 2-3 scenes, but hopefully enough to get a good sense of the game. And I'm definitely still learning things every time I run it, so always good to tease out the rough edges. Oh, and the villain's auto-shop franchise was called "Iffy Lube". 😁
S&W was great as well. I really liked Gabe's take on the game (and on the headless horseman theme!), even though I was pretty low energy (sleep deprived...) that evening.
My only bummer is that I wasn't able to join the Outcast Silver Raiders game. Sounds like it's indeed as good as I was hoping it would be. One day I'll have to play (or run?) this as well...
I hear you, though. A year is a long time to wait for this crew to get together again. At least we have both BSer Con 4 and Genghis Con coming up in early 2025...
It was. A *really* great time. This is the third year in a row I’ve gone, and it really is a good sized con where there are lots of games on offer, but it’s not -too- big. The kicker is all the awesome gamers I know who attend though— that’s the real draw for me.

Yeah, can't complain as a GM when the table is all rainmakers -- and pals to boot! Seven was pretty crazy though -- Gabe did a great job.

Good times!
IFFY LUBE! Yes, and that's even better / worse!
I hear you, though. A year is a long time to wait for this crew to get together again. At least we have both BSer Con 4 and Genghis Con coming up in early 2025...
The best part of Iffy Lube was the look on Mirko's face when all of us howled with laughter.
Hurumph.
Sounds like it was a great time!
